Dry Rose – Rose' is french for pink wine but the actual color of rose's will vary from a washed out orange color to vibrant pink. Spain produces some of the nicest dry rose wines using the garnacha grape. Rose is often thought of as a bridge between red and white wine styles. Rose wines often have a wonderfully fruitful bouquet often found in white wines, while providing a full palate weight common with red wines that lingers long in the finish.
Medium Sweet Rose – Blush and Zinfandel have made this wine style popular in the United States. It also includes Anjou Rose and Portuguese Rose's which are often slightly sweeter. While the similar to the Italian Primitivo grape, the Zinfandel grape variety is most famous in California. Often full of blackberry and plum flavors, the Zinfandel grape can also have hints of pepper. Zinfandel produces an abundance of grapes with a relatively high sugar content. Blush wines are generally sweeter light pink wines made from red grapes.
